VESSEL is the story of Dr. Rebecca Gomepert: one of a women who hears and answers a calling, transforming a widely improbable idea into a global movement. Sailing a ship around the world providing abortions at sea for women with no legal alternative, she faces governmental, religious, and military blockades. She realizes she can use new technologies to bypass law. Using WHO sanctioned protocols with pills and an underground network of activists, women are taught how to handle abortion themselves. What: We are going to be showing Merchants of Doubt: <http://sonyclassics.com/merchantsofdoubt/>
"Inspired by the acclaimed book by Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway, MERCHANTS
OF DOUBT takes audiences on a satirically comedic, yet illuminating ride
into the heart of conjuring American spin. Filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the
curtain on a secretive group of highly charismatic, silver- tongued
pundits-for-hire who present themselves in the media as scientific
authorities - yet have the contrary aim of spreading maximum confusion about
well-studied public threats ranging from toxic chemicals to pharmaceuticals
to climate change."
We will have snacks kindly supported by the Student Activity and Program Fee Board.
